Transform Your Brand Beyond A Resume

Hi Reader,

I want to share something that came up in almost every conversation I had last week.

Founders (even professionals who are Experts) who have been building for years, who have genuine expertise, who have real results, sitting with a blank page when someone asks them to write their bio or describe what they do.

Not because they don't know what they do, but because they don't know how to connect all of it into one clear story.

That is what we're tackling this week... Your Personal Brand Story.

Your Brand Story Is Not Your CV

Simply, a personal brand story is not a list of what you've done.

It's the through-line that connects everything you've done, everything you believe, and everything you're building towards, that makes immediate sense to the right person.

When your brand story is clear, Your positioning becomes obvious. The people you are trying to reach will understand why you're the right person to connect to, why you and not comeone else, and they also understand where you'll be taking them (the transformation).

When your brand story is clear and your positioning becomes obvious, referrals become easy. The right opportunities find you.

When it's missing, you can create content every single day and still feel like nobody quite gets what you stand for.

But like every story with depth, your story has years of experience, context, growth, set-backs and successes. Finding a way to deliver it in a flow understandable and attractive to your audience becomes crucial.

With every story that has depth is a through-line that connects different experiences into a series of events that makes sense.

The Three Questions That Find Your Through-Line

I use this exercise with every founder I work with. Write down three things:

  • What is the problem you find yourself solving over and over, even when it's not technically in your job description?
  • What is the belief you hold about your industry that most people in your space would find uncomfortable or disagree with?
  • What are you building right now that connects to both of those things?

The intersection of those three answers is your through-line.

Your through-line is the spine of your brand story.

Mine: I keep solving the problem of capable founders being invisible because their communication foundation is missing. My uncomfortable belief is that personal brand has almost nothing to do with content and everything to do with reputation architecture. And what I've built (my consultancy, my speaking world, my group program, my TRUST Methodology) and what I'm building right (something I've been working on for over a year!... coming soon) connects directly to both.

If you're following me on LinkedIn or Instagram, I'll be sharing hints of my new projects in the days to come. Can't wait to finally share it with you.

Now it's Your Turn

I know my newsletter community very well. You are not just building a business (or just a career).

You're managing responsibilities, showing up, run operations, manage teams, an more because you're building something meaningful in public. That is a lot. I know it because I live it.

And I think the founders who navigate this well are not the ones who have it figured out. They're the ones who are clear on what they stand for, anchored in strong values, and willing to keep moving forward even when the picture isn't complete yet.... and importantly, willing to learn, re-learn or pivot.

So here is what you can do this week: Take twenty minutes and do the three-question exercise. Write it down. Don't edit it. Just write it.

Then look at your last ten posts or your LinkedIn bio or your website and ask yourself: does this reflect that through-line? You'll know what to keep and what to change.

Keep making waves. You've got this!
