Find your Personal Brand Gap and know how to fill it
Hi Reader,
Let me ask you something direct.
If someone mentioned your name in a conversation with your ideal client this week, what would happen?
Would they immediately know what you do and who you help? Would they feel confident recommending you? Would they have something specific and credible to say?
Or would there be a pause?
That pause is your personal brand gap. And it's almost never a content problem.
What Most People Get Wrong
Your personal brand is not your Instagram grid or your LinkedIn feed. It is not how often you post. It is not your follower count.
It is your reputation. And reputation is built on multiple layers, not one.
I've seen this play out the same way across the founders I work with. They invest heavily in content. The results don't match the effort. They post more. Still nothing moves. So they either burn out or give up.
The issue is almost never the content. It's what's missing underneath it.
Real Personal Brands Have Layers that Stack
Positioning. Before you create a single piece of content, you need to be able to answer three questions: who are you, who do you serve, and why you over anyone else? If people cannot answer those questions after consuming your content for months, your content is not doing its job. You might be getting the interaction, but nothing is moving for you, your business or your career.
Content. Yes, content matters. But only when it sits on top of clear positioning. Content is not just social media posts. It is your bingeable body of work, like white papers, newsletters, podcasts, public speaking, books. The question is not how much you are creating. The question is whether all of it is building the same clear reputation. This means clarity in positioning, articulation and quality of value. Those come first, then the quantity.
Network. Not how many connections you have. Who in your network would put your name in a room you are not in? That is the question that actually matters. The network does the quiet work that the content cannot do. Random connections are empty connection that serves no one involved. Building connections with people who are relevant to your vision and goals, nurturing that network and bring value first, is what creates a strong and mighty network, even if it is small.
Visibility in the right places. Being chosen by someone else - like a podcast host, an event organiser, a journalist - carries a different kind of weight than self-publishing. It adds to your organic efforts and gives it another dimension. It signals that someone outside of you believes in your credibility. That changes how people receive everything else you do.
Social proof. Client results, testimonials, case studies and reviews. This closes the gap between being found and being trusted. It is a testament to whether you are actually delivering on your promise.
Where Most Founders Are Right Now
Working hard on pillar two (content) but barely touching the other four is very common.
The founders who build reputations that drive real business growth are the ones working all five. Not perfectly. Not all at once. But with intention.
Now it's Your Turn
These layers work together. You cannot just focus on one and expect it to carry the others.
So here is what I suggest you to do.
Look at each of the five pillars and honestly assess where you are strong and where you have a gap, and start focusing on filling-up the gap.
Keep making waves. You've got this!

Your Personal Brand is Not Your Instagram Grid
Personal brand is not content. It is a reputation system.
Your personal brand lives in five places: what you say, who you know, who talks about you, what you've built, and how you show up when nobody is watching.
Most people are only working on one and wondering why it is not moving the needle.
In episode 70 of Let's Make Waves Podcast, I'm breaking down what actually builds a personal brand in this noisy space (and it is not what you think).
I'm breaking down all the key elements and explaining why you need them working together to build a reputation that actually moves your business (or career).
